I'm done, or I wish I could be

I think I probably said a few weeks to months before school started that I was then ready for school to start, but I would be sick of it after awhile. well, awhile has arrived. I am done, or I wish I could be. it all stems from one particular class...my peds clinicals. sounds like fun, right? nope...not yet anyway. clinicals haven't even started. we have been at the school going over all of the information that our new instructor (new to us and new to the university - it's her first semester teaching) thinks that we should know for clinicals. that's not actually too bad, because it's better to be over prepared than under, I just hate being treated like I am an idiot and haven't been in school, well nursing school for the past year (school...yeah, don't get me started. I've been going to school for far too long). the really frustrating part is that my instructor keeps piling on new assignments and projects for us to do...things that were not mentioned at all in the syllabus. so I'm just trying to make time for all of the new assignments, as well as studying for all of my other classes, and trying to have a little bit of a life on the side. I say little because I don't really have a life outside of school, but there are somethings that I like to do that are not school related. (I am currently working on baby shower invitations for my sister-in-law's baby shower. they are stinking cute if I do say so myself.) I am hoping that all of this frustration turns to feelings of being better prepared and more accomplishment when I look back at the end of the semester. it's just frustrating when it's happening right now.

clinicals start next week, both for ob and peds. we do not have our peds schedule yet (another source of frustration) but for ob I am going spend a day in the nicu, a few at another hospital, and a day at various places around town, like a post-partum clinic, following a nurse midwife, and I think I am going to an ob/gyn office. it's sounds like it will be a good semester in that respect.I am also taking ob and peds theory and a leadership class. the theory classes are really interesting, but the leadership class is a little long...it's scheduled for a three hour block, but we could get everything done in two or less. oh well. we have to do this big group service project for the class, and my group is in the process of trying to find something we can do. I also have my first ob test this friday. I am learning everyday that child birth is disgusting and amazing at the exact same time. it's mostly cool though, and everyday I want to call amber and tell her everything I learned because she actually has use for some use for this information.

all in all, I think the semester is going to be good, and I look forward to seeing my first live childbirth. hopefully I get in on one while I'm at the hospital. I think I was just having a bad day. :)

I hate it when teachers pile on the work. I just cringe when that happens. I'm sure you will do well!

Is there a picture of the invite? I would love to see it. You are always so creative with those. I have an awesome game that I played at a baby shower recently. It was GREAT GREAT fun! I'll email it to you so in case your sister in law reads this, she will be surprised if you end up using it.
We LOVED our NICU nurses. I'm so glad for all the future patients you'll work with.
